In his autobiography, Larry Bird explains what made Jordan the best player he ever saw and what made him different than everybody else he ever encountered. Even though there were a few highflyers in the NBA at the time, Jordan took it to a different level, and Bird immediately knew a new generation of NBA players would take the league by storm.

My Dad is the biggest Larry Bird fan out there and even he thinks Curry is a better shooter than Bird. That said, Larry Bird is/was the better player. Better rebounder, better passer, better overall playmaker. I would also argue that Bird is a better defender, given his ability to guard against more positions (better defensive versatility).
