Created by David Jaffe, the first God of War game debuted in 2005 from Sony's Santa Monica Studio for the PlayStation 2. The game followed Kratos, a ruthless Spartan soldier in service of the Greek Pantheon who is charged with killing Ares. It was a hit upon release and spawned two mainline sequels and three spin-offs across an eight-year period.

This year, Marvel's Spider-Man, Assassin's Creed Odyssey, Red Dead Redemption 2, God of War, Monster Hunter: World, and indie game Celeste, were all in the running for the prize. Many of the games were nominated in other categories as well.
God of War (2018) was a game of a lifetime. It had amazing combat mechanics, interesting characters, beautiful new worlds, and infused the ever popular Norse mythology but above all else, the story provided a rich narrative that coherently flowed in unison with the story of Kratos. However, where God of War shines, Ragnarok only glimmers.
However, if Marvel's Wolverine borrowed one of God of War Ragnarok 's biggest features, it could be a big game-changer for the character and how he is traditionally adapted. Like the 2018 game

The Bifröst is often different depending on the media, being depicted in God of War as mystical crystals and a source of energy, and in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as a wormhole produced by interdimensional energy that’s channeled through an enchanted sword and/or a crystal bridge that’s connected to an observatory-like canon.
